Local Rules for Finnish Open
These rules are the official accepted Local Rules for Uppgårds Fotisgolf and will be used in all cases of disputes situation.
If the rules are translated to Swedish and / or Finnish, they are only for reference to the Finnish and Swedish competitors.
As a complement to the official rules by the World Football golf Association, the following rules and exceptions will be used during all the comming Finnish Open Competitions.
Teeing ground is marked by red markers and the width of the teeing ground will vary. You have to play between the two red markers or up to two meters behind them. The teeing ground might on some holes be moved between Saturday and Sunday to make the holes different, harder or easier. Almost all teeing grounds are natural grass, only few are artificial grass.
Clothing and footwear:
Normal football shoes are allowed on the course. It is recommended to use football socks in case your ball ends up in a ditch.
Smoking down on the course is prohibited. Smoking is allowed only on the Café area or near the buildings. Please find you an ashtray and use it.
Empty cans and bottles:
Please bring always back all empty cans and bottles from the game area or place them in buckets on the ground.
Out of bounds (OB):
The fields or agriculture areas around the course is always OB. This may come to play for example on holes 4, 5 and 17. The ditch before the field is playable.
The ball will NOT automatically be out of bounds if it ends up on another fairway. OB on other fairway exists only on holes 5 (right side), hole 6, hole 11 (on the right side) and hole 13.
If the ball goes out of bounds you get a one kick penalty and have to bring the ball back to where it was last played from.
More specific out of bounds and rules will be explained for each hole separately later in this document.
Starting holes & Forced spacing:
Start times will be made so that there is always 2 holes between the flights and we try to keep that during the whole round. When the group in front of you have played 2 holes you are allowed to start your own round. Especially on holes 8 – 11 and 17 – 18 it’s important that there will be a forced two holes spacing between flights and may not be played at the same time. This helps us to avoid to do extra OB.
The player may deem his ball unplayable at any place on the course (except when the ball is out of bounds). The player will then get a one kick penalty and have two choices: 1. place the ball within 3 meters (not nearer to the hole or next obstacle), or 2. return to the spot of the previous kick. On holes 11 and 15 a player may not choose option 2.
If after the final round the first, second or third place is shared between two or more players with the same amount of kicks, they will play a “sudden death” playoff. First on hole 8, then on hole 18, then back to 8 and so on. The player who goes first will be drawn on every hole (coin flip if two players, long straw if three or more).
Special rules for each hole:
Hole: 1. The flag have to be rounded from the left side of the pole and the to the hole.
Hole: 2. No special rules apply.
Hole: 3. You may always bring the ball back to the teeing ground and continue with your next shot from there (i.e. no penalty). The ball has to go through the house.
Hole: 4. The ball has to touch the laying pole/wooden stock. Field on the left is OB.
Hole: 5. Out of bounds on the right side marked by wooden markers. Out of bounds on left side if the ball goes over the ditch to the fields, wooden markers, if the ball is in the ditch it is still in play. See picture further down.
Hole: 6. Out of bounds if the ball goes over the ditch on either side, if the ball is in the ditch it is still in play. See picture. On the right side OB ends by the small rock, close to the green number 3.
Hole: 7. No special rules apply.
Hole: 8. The ball has to go through both of the tires.
Hole: 9. The ball has to go between the flags, but it does not matter from which side.
Hole: 10. You may always bring the ball back to the teeing ground and continue with your next shot from there (i.e. no penalty). The ball has to go through the fence.
Hole: 11. The hole is switched to a net, up in the air (a hoop). You may kick the ball in from both sides but be aware of hole 18 tee box. The ball is holed when it passes the imaginary surface between the edges of the hoop (meaning that it does not have to stay in the net, it may bounce out or even go through a hole in the net). On the right side there is OB (ends where the white stick is). Note also the “ball unplayable” above.
Hole: 12. The ball must first go under the first obstacle and over the second obstacle.
Hole: 13. Out of bounds if the ball goes over the ditch on either of the fairway, if the ball is in the ditch it is still in play. See picture.
Hole: 14. The water hazard, marked with white sticks and wooden markers, will be considered out of bounds. The ball has to go between the marks / flags (over the water hazard and elevation).
Hole: 15. The hole is switched to a big pot. The ball is holed when it is at rest inside the pot. Note the “ball unplayable” above. There is NO out of bounds but if the ball goes on fairway 12 on you need to play the next kick from drop zone area which is marked (i.e. no penalty).
Hole: 16. The ball has to go through the pipe.
Hole: 17. No special rules apply.
Hole: 18. No special rules apply.
Red ball is out of bounds, but the greens are not.
Fairway of the hole being played goes along the right side of the picture.
It may sound like there are many different local rules, but much of it is really information about the holes (and will be kind of self-explanatory once you get to the course). We have chosen to avoid making extra OB:s as much as possible, but as the fairways sometimes go close to each other, please be aware of other groups and other players.
All ditches are normaly dry and it is usually possible to play from the ditch, but you may of course deem the ball unplayable.
Once you get to the course, these rules will be easier to understand
